The first phase of our recent move from the apartment in Custar, OH to our new home in Toledo began on Monday, January 9. That morning, Two Men and a Truck packed up and delivered the majority of our belongings which had remained stored near Bowling Green since late August. During the next two weeks, on my days off, we drove out to the apartment and gradually removed our remaining belongings and cleaned up. (God bless the Stonebridge family who allowed us stay in their apartment for over four months!) Now we have all our belongings at the house in Toledo and are busy arranging furniture and unpacking boxes – lots of them.

It’s always challenging fitting furnishings that worked well at a previous house into a different house. For example, we have a very sturdy, but rather large, entertainment center that has been difficult to place. We’ve tried nearly every corner of the house but nothing has worked so far. A good friend gave it to us a couple years ago and I spent a good deal of time lovingly painting it and putting on new hardware one summer. It fit very nicely in our former living room which had a vaulted ceiling and a fair amount of wall space. However, it may be too large for our current home that has standard ceiling heights and more windows.

But that’s just the tip of the iceberg, as you well know. What about all those kitchen items, linens, games, books, clothing and decorative items Beth had so neatly stored and arranged in our former home? They all have to be put somewhere too! Moving is a job, no two ways about it. But we’re very thankful to be in our new place closer to my office and the church facilities – and we’ve moved enough times in recent years to know that – eventually – everything will be found a place in our new home, or will find a place in someone else’s home via Craigslist or Goodwill. We are thankful to all those who have prayed for, supported and assisted us in this process, and are hopeful this will be our home for some time to come. By the way, do you need any boxes?
